It’s Never Too Early To Start Fantasy Football Draft Planning

  • Posted on Sun, May 15th, 2011 by Ja Dawson

Ladies and gentlemen, it’s never too early to start prepping for your fantasy football draft! You guessed it-I’m already in draft preparation mode (even if Roger Goodell and company aren’t ready to guarantee that we’re going to have a season). In fact, I started preparing for the 2011 draft the day after the previous fantasy football season ended.

Especially if you are in a keeper league, it is very important to know which player(s) you are considering retaining. How much will this player cost me next year (if your league has a salary cap)? Should I keep Drew Brees or Chris Johnson? Or should I consider retaining super-wideout Andre Johnson. These are the type of questions that you’ll have to routinely ask yourself.

What tools do I use to prepare?

Well, I use a combination of things. I usually pick up a magazine or three. ESPN, Fanball and Fantasy Football Index are three of my favorites. Online, I like to visit CBS Sportsline, ESPN (notice a trend here) and NFL.COM. And following the Tweets of popular fantasy football fanatics on Twitter is a very underrated source of information.

Now let’s just hope the fantasy football season starts on time! But even if it doesn’t, you can never be too prepared.
