Assuming There Is A Season, Here Are My Fantasy MVPs By Position
- Posted on Sat, May 28th, 2011 by Ja Dawson
Assuming there is a season, here are the players that will be the strongest at their respective positions in the 2011-12
season:
- Quarterback. This one is easy. The “people’s champ” as well as the reigning Super Bowl MVP, Aaron Rodgers is poised to wear the mantle of fantasy football’s best quarterback. What’s scary is that we have not necessarily seen the best of him.
- Running back. “AP” is another “no-brainer” selection. He’s still the league’s best running back. And post-Brett Favre, he’s poised to return to his alpha-male status in this usually solid offense. Look for Adrian Peterson to bounce back and have an MVP-like season, barring injury (which I’ll admit is always a possibility).
- Wide receiver. This position’s uber-performer is not that clear. But I’m leaning towards a Johnson. I’m just not sure if it’s Andre or Calvin. These “brothers from different mothers” are the most talented wideouts in the NFL. I’ll give the nod to Andre here, because he has two Pro Bowl-caliber teammates in Matt Schaub and Arian Foster alongside him.
- Tight end. OK, another easy selection has entered the building. His name is Antonio Gates, and this just in, he’s pretty good. So good, that last season, despite missing six games to injury, he was still the second best tight end in fantasy football. That’s bananas!
Note: With all due respect, I chose not to include defenses or kickers.
